Our COVID Protocols

We are delighted to be able to welcome guests back to the cottage and trust that you will have an enjoyable holiday.  The Government has only allowed accommodation businesses to re-open subject to certain conditions being met.

We have been issued with protocols that outline the new cleaning and safety requirements to ensure your safety and that of ourselves.  The protocols mean that things are slightly different from usual and we are asking for your cooperation.  You can read the new standards here

From 25 September 2020 we are required to ensure that every guest with a Smartphone scans the QR code NHS Covid Tracker app on arrival.  You may also need this app if you visit other venues in the area.  We thank you for your cooperation.

Cleaning will take extra time

We now have to “double clean” – firstly our usual high standard of cleaning will take place followed by a second clean with virucidal disinfectant.  For the second stage we have purchased DuoMax as it meets the Covid 19 requirements and is not harmful to humans, plants, animals or the environment.

Normally, for each changeover, we check all the kitchen equipment and rewash as necessary but now we have to rewash everything, even the clean items.  Therefore, we have reduced some items.  If you are short of anything please do not hesitate to ask.  Upholstery and curtains also need sanitising which will take extra time.

Please do not leave a half empty dishwasher running as you leave.  If you do not have sufficient time to wash and put away your breakfast dishes please put them in the dishwasher and fill it with other clean crockery and cutlery before turning it on as everything needs to be re-washed.  Thank you.


We will try our utmost to be ready for 4pm.  We will text you to let you know when the cottage is ready.  Access will not be permitted before we have finished and left the premises.  If you wish to drop off your suitcases earlier you may do so.  Please telephone Diane 07917 147281 to let us know so that we can direct you to the drop off point.

On departure day we ask that you leave by 9.30am to allow us the extra time needed to clean properly.  We are asking you to do this so that all guests can gain access at 4pm rather than later.

We understand that the new times might be inconvenient but it is for your safety and we ask that you help us by allowing extra cleaning time.


Please depart by 9.30 am – thank you for your cooperation.

Please strip your beds before you leave – As 7 out of 10 people who have had the antibody test did not have any symptoms the Government is advising us to assume that someone in your party COULD be carrying the virus.  The main route for contracting the virus is airborne which is why stripping used bed linen is the biggest risk for us.  Therefore, to ensure our safety we need you to strip your used bedding.    Please fold the items and leave them in the plastic bag provided in each wardrobe. To protect the bed please do NOT remove any duvet, pillow or mattress protectors.  We will remove these carefully wearing full PPE before replacing with clean protectors and bedding for the next guests.

Please empty all bins including the bathroom bins.  Place all rubbish inside the black bin bag in the outside bin.

Finally, please open all the windows before you leave.  Thank you.

Septic tank

Please DO NOT use bleach or anti-bacterial products other than the eco-friendly products we have supplied.  Please DO NOT place wipes down the toilets under any circumstances.

Covid Care Kit

In addition to our usual welcome pack you will find masks, disposable gloves and alcohol hand sanitisers.  This is everything you need for a trip to the supermarket or shops.

Some items may be missing

We want you to enjoy the high level of comfort that our guests have come to enjoy.  We therefore have sufficient cushions and throws to change them each week.  However, there are other items which we have removed such as the Guest Information folder.  This can now be found on-line under the Manage Booking tab on your booking form.  We have also removed visitor attraction leaflets other than the one pack in a plastic bag.  Therefore, if you wish to know about anything that is not on the Guest Information portal please do not hesitate to ask.

If you develop symptoms we need to know

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy a happy and healthy holiday.  However, should a member of your party develop any symptoms, the Government advice is to return to your primary residence and self isolate there for a period of 7 days (14 for the other group members).  Please do let us know if you develop any symptoms as the cleaning protocols for the cottage are different.  If you are unable to travel home and need to extend your stay, we will need you to pay for the following week(s) in full at the applicable rate/s as we will need to refund the next guests who can no longer stay. 


We hope that you have a fabulous holiday.  The “new normal” might mean that it’s slightly different but it’s great to be able to get away and enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery.  If we all take responsibility to minimise risk, then hopefully there won’t be another lockdown.
